Mining
Mine site point cloud viewer your client opens in a browser
Pit, stockpile and haul road surveys come back as multi-gigabyte LAS files, and the people who need them run a mine, not a GIS desk. ViewerFX turns the file into a link that opens in a browser, on site or at head office.
What a mine survey looks like as a file
A drone LiDAR or photogrammetry flight over a pit, a waste dump or a stockpile yard lands as a LAS or LAZ. In the mine work we see, a single flight runs 1 to 3.4 GB; a whole-site merge runs larger. The mine manager, the geotechnical engineer, the blasting contractor and head office all need to look at it, and none of them have point cloud software.
What they can do in the link
- Orbit the pit and fly along the haul road, on a laptop or a phone.
- Spot elevations on benches and ramps, in metres or feet.
- Bench heights with the height tool, distances across the pit, areas of a pad.
- Section cut through a wall or a stockpile to read the slope.
- Plan view with a scale bar and north arrow, exported as an image for a report.
- Colour by elevation to read the pit at a glance, or by classification when the file is classified.
- Annotations pinned to a crest, a crack or a berm, so a note travels with the cloud.
Volumes
Stockpile volumes are not in the viewer today. They still come from your processing software. Share the cloud alongside the report so the people reading the numbers can check them against the surface they came from.
Big files, on a phone on site
There is no per-file cap. The largest file converted so far is a 19.8 GB LAS with 530 million points. The viewer streams only the points on screen, so a 3 GB flight opens as fast as a small scan, including on a phone with a site connection.
Private links
Links are unguessable tokens. Add a password for a site under contract, revoke the link when the contract ends, and see how many times it was opened. Your originals stay private to your account, and you can download the converted LAZ at any time.
Plan fit
A 3.4 GB flight is over the free plan's 2 GB. Starter is $29 a month for 50 GB and 10 stored files, so ten flights live at a time. Pro is $79 a month for 250 GB and 40 files, for a monthly flight program. Every plan has every viewer tool, and viewers never pay. Full details on the pricing page.

Common questions
- Can a mine manager open a point cloud without software?
- Yes. Upload the LAS or LAZ and send the link. It opens in a browser, including on a phone on site and from a Teams chat, with no install and no account.
- Does it calculate stockpile volumes?
- Not yet. Volumes still come from your processing software. ViewerFX shares the cloud so the people reading the numbers can check them against the surface they came from.
- How big can a mine survey file be?
- No per-file cap. The largest file converted so far is a 19.8 GB LAS with 530 million points. Only your plan's total storage counts.
- Can I keep a site private?
- Yes. Add a password to the link and revoke it when the contract ends. Your original files stay private to your account.
