Drone mapping
Send drone LiDAR to a client without software
The flight is processed and the LAS is ready. The client does not have, and will not install, anything that opens it. Send a link instead.
The file is the problem, not the data
Drone LiDAR processing exports a LAS or LAZ: hundreds of millions of points, one to twenty gigabytes per deliverable. Nothing on the client's machine previews it, Drive shows a file icon, and the only person who can answer "what am I looking at" is you. The same goes for photogrammetry clouds and E57 exports from a terrestrial scanner.
Send a link, not a file
- Upload the LAS or LAZ from the browser. E57, PLY, PCD, PTS, PTX work the same way.
- Wait for the email that says the file is ready. Multi-gigabyte files typically take 15 to 40 minutes.
- Copy the link from the file list. Add a password if the site is sensitive.
- Paste it into an email, a Teams chat or a text.
What the client sees
- The full cloud, streaming, so a 5 GB flight opens in seconds on a normal laptop.
- Distance, height, area and spot elevation, in feet or metres.
- Colour by elevation, by RGB for photogrammetry colour, or by classification when the file is classified.
- Section cut, plan view with a scale bar, and annotations pinned to the cloud.
- No account, nothing to install, and nothing to pay. Viewers are unlimited on every plan.
Deliverables that stay delivered
Links do not expire on a schedule. A flight you send in spring still opens in the fall when the engineer finally looks at it. The file list shows how many times each link was opened, you get an email on the first open, and a Monday summary on weeks that had any.
Your data stays yours
Links are unguessable tokens. Add a password, revoke a link the moment a project closes, and download the converted LAZ whenever you want your data somewhere else. Delete a file and it is gone from storage.
Cost
The free plan holds 2 GB and 2 files, with a small ViewerFX badge on shared links. Starter is $29 a month for 50 GB and 10 stored files, no badge. No per-viewer or per-project fees. Full details on the pricing page.
Related: sharing a 20 GB LAS file with a client, power line and corridor lidar, and every ViewerFX fact on one page.
Common questions
- Does my client need to install anything?
- No. The link opens in any modern browser, on a laptop or a phone, straight from an email, a Teams chat or a text. No account on their end.
- What formats can I upload?
- LAS, LAZ, E57, PLY, PCD, PTS, PTX. LAS and LAZ in every version. Everything is converted to a streaming format on ViewerFX servers.
- Can the client measure?
- Yes. Distance, height, area and spot elevation, in feet or metres, plus section cuts, plan view and annotations. Every tool is on every plan.
- What if the file is 20 GB?
- No per-file cap. The largest file converted so far is a 19.8 GB LAS with 530 million points. Only your plan's total storage counts.
