Scan to BIM and as-built
Share scan-to-BIM and as-built scans as a link
Send the registered E57 or LAS to architects, engineers and contractors as a link. They open it in a browser, with no ReCap seat and no install.
After registration, a laser scan has to reach people without scan software: the architect checking existing conditions, the MEP engineer checking clearances, the contractor pricing a renovation, the owner’s project manager. They need to look and measure, not model.
How it works
- Export the registered scan as E57, LAS or LAZ from Cyclone, SCENE, RealWorks or ReCap.
- Upload it. ViewerFX converts it for streaming, at any file size.
- Send the link by email or post it in the project’s Teams channel.
Recipients open it in a browser on a laptop or phone. They need no account, and every plan has unlimited viewers.
What reviewers can do
- Open an interior in a dollhouse view with the ceiling cut away
- Cut the ceiling and floor with sliders, or isolate an area with a clip box
- Pick a storey in a multi-storey building
- Switch to a top-down plan view with a scale bar and north arrow, and save it as an image
- Measure floor-to-ceiling height, wall to wall and room area, in feet and inches or metres
- Walk through at eye height
- Measure distances and spot elevations, and pin notes to the scan
For laser scanning firms
Deliver every job as a link alongside the files. Pro puts your logo on shared viewers and Business is full white-label. Team seats let the whole office share from one workspace.
What it does not do
ViewerFX does not register scans or build models. Registration and modeling stay in your existing software. ViewerFX shares the result. If you are comparing it with ReCap, see sharing point clouds without ReCap.
Common questions
- How do I share a point cloud with an architect?
- Upload the registered E57, LAS or LAZ, copy the share link and send it. The architect opens it in a browser. Add a password if the scan is confidential.
- Does the architect need ReCap to open the scan?
- No. The link opens in any modern browser, with nothing to install and no Autodesk account.
- Can I put my company’s logo on the link?
- On Pro and Business. Pro adds your logo and brand colour to shared viewers. Business is full white-label.
- Can the whole office share from one account?
- Yes. Workspaces have team seats, so everyone uploads and shares from the same files. The people you send links to never need a seat.
- What does it cost?
- Free for 2 GB and 2 files. Paid plans are $29, $79 and $199 a month, sized by storage. Viewers are always free.
