What changed in ViewerFX

Additions, changes and removals, dated. Each release is emailed to every account, so nothing about your workspace changes quietly

  1. A facts page and four answer pages

    One page lists every plan, limit, format and tool in plain lines, and four new guides answer the questions clients ask.

    • NewFacts page at viewerfx.io/facts: plans and prices, formats, file limits, the largest file converted so far, every viewer tool, link security, storage and seats, one line each. Linked from the footer.
    • NewGuides on sharing a 20 GB LAS file with a client, a mine site point cloud viewer, sending drone LiDAR to a client without software, and a point cloud link that opens in Microsoft Teams.

  2. Interiors with a basement or several floors

    Multi-storey building scans now open in interior mode, with every storey in the Cut panel.

    • FixedA building scan with a basement or a floor below the main one was not recognised as an interior. It now opens as a dollhouse, and the Cut panel lists each storey.
    • ChangedDeclaring a file as stored in feet now also shows measurements and the plan scale in feet. The file-unit options read "stored in".

  3. Emails that keep you posted, and a shorter path from upload to client

    You now hear when a file is ready and when a client opens it, and the file list copies share links.

    • NewEmail when a file finishes converting, and one if a conversion fails. Big uploads no longer need a tab left open.
    • NewEmail the first time someone outside your workspace opens a share link, and a Monday summary of opens on weeks that had any.
    • NewCopy share link from the file list. A file that just finished converting prompts you to send it.
    • NewThe file list shows how many times each link has been opened.
    • ChangedThe ViewerFX badge on free plan share links now reads "Share your own point cloud free". Paid plans have no badge, as before.

  4. Stalled conversions recover on their own

    A download that stops mid-transfer no longer holds a conversion for hours.

    • FixedA conversion whose download stalls now resumes where it stopped instead of waiting indefinitely.
    • NewA conversion that has made no progress for a long time is flagged in the file list and can be deleted.

  5. Interior mode, units and Download LAZ

    Interior scans open as a dollhouse, measurements convert to your unit, and owners can download the optimized LAZ.

    • NewInterior mode: scans of building interiors are detected and open with the ceiling cut away. Ceiling and floor sliders, storey picker and clip box.
    • NewPlan view with a scale bar and north arrow, plus a plan image export.
    • NewWalk mode: move through an interior at eye height.
    • NewHeight, wall-to-wall and room area measuring, with results in feet and inches or metres.
    • NewMeasurement units: distances and spot elevations convert to the unit you pick, whatever the file is stored in.
    • NewClassification legend for classified lidar.
    • NewDownload LAZ: owners and admins can download the optimized file from the file page.
    • NewSupport by email: replying to any ViewerFX email opens a ticket.

  6. Signup fix and badge-free paid links

    The confirmation link works again, and paid plan share links carry no badge.

    • FixedThe signup confirmation button was rejected for some accounts.
    • ChangedPaid plan share links carry no badge of any kind.

  7. Verified signups

    New accounts confirm their email before uploading.

    • NewEmail verification at signup, and bot protection on the signup and login forms.

  8. Workspaces, seats and more formats

    Teams share one workspace, and E57 and other scanner formats upload directly.

    • NewWorkspaces: invite members as admins or users. One admin seat is included on every plan.
    • NewE57, PLY, PCD, PTS and PTX uploads, converted the same way as LAS and LAZ.
    • NewEmail preferences on the account page. Product emails are optional; account emails are part of the service.
    • NewPer-file permission to feature your point cloud in ViewerFX marketing. Off by default.

  9. Free local viewer

    Open LAS and LAZ files from your own computer without an account.

    • NewFree viewer at viewerfx.io/viewer: opens LAS and LAZ up to about 500 MB in the browser, nothing uploaded.

  10. Paid plans

    Starter, Pro and Business plans with a free trial and self-serve billing.

    • NewStarter, Pro and Business plans through Stripe, with a 7-day free trial and a billing portal for invoices, card changes and cancellation.
    • NewPro adds your logo and brand colour to shared viewers. Business is full white-label.
